CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday afternoon in Clarendon County.
According to Highway Patrol officials, the collision happened at approximately 12:09 p.m. at the intersection of Wash Davis Road and Rowe Drive, roughly 5.8 miles south of Summerton.
Investigators say a 2020 Volkswagen traveling south on Wash Davis Road and a 2000 Saturn traveling north on the same roadway collided at the intersection.
The driver of the Volkswagen, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the Saturn was also injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment. The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
