The Clarendon County Planning Commission will meet Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Clarendon County Administration Building to review a series of rezoning requests and development-related policy recommendations that could shape future growth in the county.
The agenda includes eight zoning cases, beginning with two items of old business involving applications submitted by Hoangson Tran Nguyen. Under new business, the commission will hear rezoning requests from Shirley Ragin, Shante Williams, Lance Green, Chad Albertgotti, Alex Morales dos Reis Sakuma, and Norberto Lopez.
Rezoning requests determine how property may be used — such as residential, commercial, agricultural, or mixed-use — and can affect surrounding neighborhoods, traffic patterns, infrastructure demands, and long-term land-use planning. While the Planning Commission does not make final decisions, its recommendations are forwarded to Clarendon County Council, which has final authority.
Beyond individual cases, commissioners are also scheduled to consider recommendations related to Flexible Design District subdivision regulations and proposed amendments to Performance Zones. These policy discussions may influence how future developments are planned, designed, and regulated countywide.
The agenda allows for an executive session to receive legal advice if necessary, followed by any potential action arising from that session. Reports from the commission chairman, building department, and planning director are also scheduled.
Planning Commission meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend, particularly those with an interest in zoning decisions, development standards, or properties under consideration.
The meeting will adjourn following completion of reports and discussion.
