TURBEVILLE, S.C. — For South Carolina House Rep. Fawn Pedalino and State Senator Jeff Zell, town halls aren’t just calendar events — they are an opportunity to sit face-to-face with the people they represent.
The two lawmakers will host a public town hall on Friday, January 23, at 6 p.m. at Pine Grove Church, located at 1090 Morgan Street in Turbeville. Residents are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and share concerns about issues affecting their communities and the state as a whole.
Pedalino and Zell have developed a reputation locally for holding accessible, conversational town halls that prioritize listening as much as informing. Past meetings have drawn strong attendance, with residents raising questions about education, elections, infrastructure, and the everyday challenges facing rural communities.
At a previous joint town hall in Clarendon County last year, the room filled quickly as constituents engaged in open dialogue with the lawmakers. Rather than formal speeches, the event centered on direct questions and thoughtful discussion — an approach both officials say helps them better understand how legislation affects families back home.
Rep. Pedalino, who represents House District 64, has remained active on education-related issues and frequently updates constituents on legislative developments impacting schools and local governance. Sen. Zell, representing Senate District 36, brings his experience in education and local service into conversations about policy decisions made in Columbia.
Both lawmakers have emphasized that town halls are not about party lines, but about accountability and transparency.
“This is about being present,” Pedalino has said at past events. “People deserve to know what’s happening and to have a voice in it.”
The January 23 meeting is open to the public, and organizers note that turnout has been strong at previous events. Residents planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early.
