Domestic Dispute on Bell Road Leads to Murder Charge in Sumter County

Sumter S.C. – A fight early Sunday morning on Bell Road in Sumter County ended with a murder charge, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.


Deputies showed up just after 6 a.m. on January 4, answering a call about a domestic disturbance at a home on Bell Road. Inside, they found signs of a struggle and evidence suggested that alcohol could have played a part.

The Sheriff’s Office says someone stabbed a man during the argument, killing him. They haven’t released his name yet, they’re waiting until his family’s been 

told.


Deputies arrested Akasha Tamia Jones, 26, who lives on Bell Road. She faces charges of murder and having a weapon during a violent crime. The Sheriff’s Office didn’t have a booking photo to share at the time.


Jones was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Detention Center, where deputies started processing her. The investigation is on going, and the Sheriff’s Office says they’ll share more details as they learn them.
